Principal's Message

  • Jennifer McCalley

    Dear Imlay families,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Principal of Imlay Elementary School. I am thrilled to begin the new school year and look forward to meeting students, staff, parents, and community members. I have heard great things about the Imlay community and your Eagle Pride has shined bright! It is obvious that this school is a unique place and I am so happy to be a part of it.

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I am a born and raised Oregonian and attended the University of Oregon. Go Ducks! I love to read, sit in the sunshine, watch movies, spend time with family and friends and craft. I have been married for 22 years to my husband and have two children, Austin who is 17 years old and going to be a high school senior, and Maddie, who is 14 years old and is entering her sophomore year.

I began my educational career 20 years ago in Portland as a classroom teacher. I taught PK through 6th grade over the course of 14 years. During the last six years, I have worked as an assistant principal, and then principal. This begins my seventh year as an elementary school administrator, and I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to your son/daughter’s school and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

As I make this important transition to Imlay, I am aware of the anticipation and eagerness that accompanies new leadership in any organization. It is expected and understandable. I know that change can provoke both excitement and anxiety. It is my goal to spend my first several months learning about our school and all of its stakeholders. I eagerly anticipate getting to know the Imlay community and learning about your hopes and dreams for our school. I believe that genuine collaboration fosters ownership of a rich school culture. Supporting our children to do well at school, and in their personal lives, is the center of the work we do as a school family. I am honored to have been selected to serve this community, and I will work hard to gain your trust and respect as the Imlay principal.

My goal as principal at Imlay Elementary School is to ensure the safety and success of ALL students, every day. Working alongside the educators and community members at Imlay, I will strive to provide the best possible education for every student who attends our school. I will work to promote a positive school culture and safe learning environment, each day.

I look forward to an incredible year ahead! I will be sending out emails with beginning of the school year information in lmid-August. Please check in on the Imlay website (https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/imlay), the Imlay Elementary School Facebook page and Twitter throughout the summer. I will be posting updates, pictures and school information over the next months and throughout the school year.

I hope each of you enjoy our beautiful Oregon summer and are looking forward to a great school year. The 2018-19 school year will be busy, exciting, and very rewarding for every student. My door is always open, and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in, call or email me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas! I will be in and out of the building throughout the month of July and August. I look forward to meeting you and expanding my school family as an Imlay Elementary School Eagle!

    Imlay Eagles

    Yours in Eagle Pride,

    Jen McCalley
