Dear Orenco Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade Families,

As the District announced on Oct. 12, all students will continue in the Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) model for the beginning of Quarter 2, which starts on Nov. 9.

It will likely require approximately five weeks to transition from CDL to in-person learning for students in grades PreK through 3 once Washington County begins meeting the required health metrics - two to three weeks of meeting the health metrics to qualify, and up to two weeks of preparation time (while still meeting the health metrics).

It is important for us to have a sense of how many students would return to school in person if it is offered and how many students would elect to continue in CDL. As a reminder, the District has guaranteed access to CDL for the entire 2020-21 school year for families that may not want to take advantage of in-person opportunities if they become available.

Please know that with in-person learning - either in a full-time or hybrid model - the District would follow all state-required safety protocols including face coverings for all staff and students, social distancing of six feet, and reduced classroom capacity to ensure 35 square feet of space per child. Also, please know that regardless of your choice Nutrition Services will continue to serve meals to all students, whether they are attending in-person or via CDL.

To help us plan, please answer the questions in this survey (click here) If you have multiple children, please complete one survey per student.  Please note that the HSD Student ID is optional to fill out.

Additional information about a return to in-person learning opportunities for entire grades of students will be communicated as soon as it is available; at this time, we are merely gathering information from PK - 3rd grade families.

Thank you very much for your assistance and ongoing patience.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Allison Combs, Orenco Principal.

Hello Parents, Here is a link to our current Enrollment steps and Online Registration

Under normal circumstances, you would begin the enrollment process by visiting your “home school” during office hours. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our schools are currently closed and we are implementing a distance learning model of instruction until schools reopen. Once the enrollment process is completed, your student(s) will be able to participate in the district's distance learning model of instruction.

If you are unable to complete the online enrollment please download and complete the paper Enrollment form — English Enrollment Form / Spanish Enrollment Form.  Mail the completed paper form to 7050 NE Birch St, Hillsboro, OR 97124. If you have any questions please email our school's secretary Lucy Smith at smithlu@hsd.k12.or.us

The Orenco staff are passionate, dedicated educators who set high standards of achievement so our young scholars can be successful. We are determined to drive rigorous engagement in literacy, writing, math, and science, and provide individualized opportunities for student growth. To ensure this happens, we collaborate regularly around student learning, challenge one another, and seek to continuously improve in teaching and learning. We set high expectations for ourselves and our young scholars, and work together in the process of achieving those expectations.

Thank you for trusting us with the education and caring development of your child. If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or me a call. Family support is a critical link to student achievement. We want to hear from you!
