Dear GHS students and families

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year at Glencoe High School.

This year we have over 1500 students enrolled at Glencoe High School.   During the last couples of weeks we have welcomed back both staff and students after over 15 months apart.  Having everyone back together has made this for the best start of school 

There has been so much great energy during the last few days as students and families have come back for both Crimson Days and Back to School Night.  Seeing families in the halls doing tours and enjoying the remodel has brought smiles to all of our faces.  

Glencoe High School continues to have many courses to challenge and provide rigor for our students.  Advanced Placement, AVID and CTE are all going strong, as well dual credit opportunities.  Our goal is that every student graduates having taken rigorous coursework.  Our College and Career Pathways offer our students exploration of a career pathway that interests and engages them.

We have outstanding systems of support for our students.  Our counselors provide both academic and socio-emotional connections for our students.  Fernando Colondres, our Wellness Counselors and Susan Shimokaji, our Youth Contact partner, are also able to provide support necessary for our students and families.  You may have noticed that we have an advisory twice a week this year.  Advisory is a place for your student to make connections with classmates and their advisory teacher will be able to provide information and support. 

I am confident that, working together, we will be able to achieve the goals and meet the needs of all of our students.

I am looking forward to the 2021-2022 academic school year.

Estimados estudiantes y familias de GHS

Bienvenidos al año escolar 2021-2022 en Glencoe High School.

Este año tenemos más de 1500 estudiantes matriculados en Glencoe High School. Durante las últimas semanas, hemos vuelto a dar la bienvenida tanto al personal como a los estudiantes después de más de 15 meses de diferencia. Tener a todos juntos de nuevo ha hecho que este sea el mejor comienzo de la escuela.

Ha habido mucha energía durante los últimos días ya que los estudiantes y las familias han regresado tanto para los Días Crimson como para la Noche de Regreso a Clases. Ver a las familias en los pasillos haciendo recorridos y disfrutando de la remodelación ha traído sonrisas a todos nuestros rostros.

La preparatoria Glencoe continúa teniendo muchos cursos para desafiar y brindar rigor a nuestros estudiantes. Colocación avanzada, AVID y CTE van bien, al igual que las oportunidades de crédito dual. Nuestro objetivo es que todos los estudiantes se gradúen después de haber realizado cursos rigurosos. Nuestros caminos universitarios y profesionales ofrecen a nuestros estudiantes la exploración de un camino profesional que les interesa y los involucra.

Contamos con excelentes sistemas de apoyo para nuestros estudiantes. Nuestros consejeros brindan conexiones académicas y socioemocionales para nuestros estudiantes. Fernando Colondres, nuestros consejeros de bienestar y Susan Shimokaji, nuestra socia de Youth Contact, también pueden brindar el apoyo necesario para nuestros estudiantes y familias. Es posible que haya notado que tenemos un aviso dos veces por semana este año. La asesoría es un lugar para que su estudiante establezca conexiones con sus compañeros de clase y su maestro asesor podrá brindarle información y apoyo.

Confío en que, trabajando juntos, seremos capaces de lograr las metas y satisfacer las necesidades de todos nuestros estudiantes.

Espero con ansias el año escolar académico 2021-2022.
